A low coral-stone wall, a garden thick with tropical green, and then the Atlantic, stretching wide and uninterrupted. A Stones Throw Away sits on the northwest coast of Barbados in the parish of St. Peter, a small guesthouse that feels less like a hotel and more like a well-loved home that happens to welcome strangers with uncommon grace. The property is intimate in scale, with just a handful of rooms arranged around lush grounds where bougainvillea and frangipani grow freely and the sound of the sea is constant. There is no grand lobby, no sweeping driveway. You arrive to something quieter and more personal, a place where the architecture is modest, the atmosphere unhurried, and the proximity to the water is almost startling.
Rooms are individually appointed, each one simple and comfortable with the kind of lived-in warmth that resists the word "curated." Many offer views toward the Caribbean Sea, and the breeze moves through freely, carrying salt air and the faint sweetness of the garden. The property's restaurant is a defining feature of the experience, serving meals that draw on the island's produce and seafood traditions. Dining happens close to the water, often by candlelight, with a menu that changes according to what is fresh and available. Breakfast arrives leisurely, with tropical fruit, local eggs, and strong coffee. The bar is relaxed and well-stocked, a place for rum punch at sunset or a quiet drink after dinner while the waves turn silver under the moon.
The beach is, as the name suggests, steps away. A small path leads from the garden directly to the sand, where the swimming is calm and the coastline curves gently northward. Speightstown, one of Barbados's oldest and most characterful towns, is nearby, its streets lined with colonial-era buildings, local fish markets, and small shops that have served the community for generations. The west coast of the island offers some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Caribbean, and the property can help arrange excursions, boat trips, or simply point you toward a stretch of reef worth exploring on your own.
What lingers about A Stones Throw Away is not any single detail but the overall rhythm of the place. Mornings are slow. Afternoons dissolve into reading, swimming, and the particular Bajan stillness that settles over the coast when the sun is high. Evenings gather around the restaurant table and the sound of the sea just beyond. It is a place that asks very little of you and, in return, offers something increasingly rare: the feeling of being genuinely, comfortably, unperformatively at ease.

What we love about this stay
You feel it almost immediately — the quiet authority of a place that isn't trying to impress you. A Stones Throw Away has the kind of understated confidence that comes from knowing exactly what it is: a small, coastal retreat where the setting does most of the talking and the hospitality fills in the rest without fuss. There's an intimacy here that larger properties can't manufacture, a sense that the accommodations were shaped around the landscape rather than imposed upon it. It suits the traveler who has outgrown spectacle and now gravitates toward authenticity — the kind of stay where privacy and proximity to the coast feel like the real luxury. What lingers afterward isn't any single detail but rather the pace itself, unhurried and entirely its own.

My daughter and İ stayed here one night and both of us loved it. Upon on arrival we got into our room and each got a complimentary t shirt from the hotel manager Marcie. She is very professional and kind. The young man whose name I forgot took us to our room and also gave us a tour of the hotel. Bus stop is literally a few steps from the hotel and it is very fast and convenient and for $2 you can ride to downtown. The beach is also a few steps away. Location is perfect. This hotel is very unique and the room is very clean and attractive with a great view. Breakfast is simple yet amazing and healthy. Views from the hotel lobby are equally amazing. The restaurant which belongs to the hotel is exceptional if you like Indian food. Overall it was one of the best hotel experiences we have had. We stayed at Baha Mar for 4 nights and here for one night and both of us enjoyed this more even though it was less half the price per night. My only complaint is the water pressure in the sink. It was just a bit too low. Other than that it still deserves a 5 out of 5 hands down.

This boutique hotel was perfect for a peaceful getaway! As other reviews have stated, there are quite a few stairs, but certainly nothing infeasible and staff are able to bring luggage up and down for you if needed. There is a beach right down the street and bigger beaches are less than 10min away by car/bus. The pool and outdoor patio were beautiful places to relax during the day. Shaniq, Marcie, John and the rest of the staff were all fantastic and truly made our vacation. They gave us great advice on where to go, what to do and helped us find a rental car since the airport was sold out with the busy holiday rush. We would absolutely stay here again and thank the staff wholeheartedly for all they do

I discovered a true gem for my stay in Nassau: A Stone Throw Away. The view is simply incredible, but what really makes this place stand out is the warmth and attentiveness of the staff. From the moment you enter, they make you feel like you're home. The food at the Bombay Cafe restaurant is authentically Indian and absolutely delicious. The flavors are intense and authentic, and you can tell the passion and care that goes into each dish. If you're a fan of Indian food, this place is a must-visit. In short, A Stone Throw Away is the place to stay if you're in Nassau. The view, service, rooms, and food are all exceptional. Don't miss the opportunity to discover this little treasure in the Caribbean!

I can't speak highly enough of this place, if I could give it 6 stars I would. It was exactly what we were looking for for the last couple days of our honeymoon- stunning location overlooking the ocean, incredible food, wonderful staff, tranquil vibes, plus beautiful and unique rooms. They were all so welcoming and helpful, the next time we are in Nassau I'll be sure to book this place again
