The road narrows, the hedgerows fall away, and the Atlantic appears. Marram Montauk sits directly on the dunes of Montauk's oceanfront, a 96-room hotel that feels less like a destination and more like a state of mind. The architecture is deliberately understated, clad in natural wood and designed to weather alongside the landscape rather than stand apart from it. Interiors draw from a restrained palette of raw textures, woven linens, warm neutrals, and organic materials that let the light and the sound of the ocean do most of the work. Every room faces the water, and floor-to-ceiling windows ensure the boundary between indoors and outdoors remains mostly theoretical.
Accommodations range from guest rooms to suites, each designed with the same pared-back sensibility. Furnishings are minimal but considered, with custom beds dressed in natural fabrics, deep soaking tubs, and private outdoor spaces that open toward the beach. The effect is one of deliberate simplicity, where comfort is measured in proximity to the elements rather than thread count or square footage. Marram's communal spaces follow the same logic. The lobby functions as a living room, anchored by a fireplace and lined with books. The pool deck stretches toward the ocean, flanked by daybeds and a hot tub, offering a place to settle without agenda. A meditation deck and yoga programming bring a wellness dimension that feels native to the property's unhurried rhythm.
Mostow's, the hotel's restaurant, serves a menu rooted in the coastal kitchen tradition, drawing on local seafood and seasonal produce. The dining room opens to the outdoors, and the atmosphere tilts casual, in keeping with the broader ethos. A bar program complements the food with craft cocktails and a curated wine list. Mornings begin with coffee and pastries, and the transition from breakfast to afternoon to evening happens without ceremony. A fire pit on the beach becomes the hotel's social center after dark, where guests gather without reservation or itinerary.
Montauk occupies a singular position at the eastern tip of Long Island, where the pace and polish of the Hamptons dissolve into something rougher and more salt-worn. Fishing boats still leave the harbor at dawn. Surf breaks draw dedicated locals year-round. Lighthouse trails wind along the bluffs. Marram sits within this landscape as both an extension of it and a quiet retreat from everything that came before it on the drive east. The property's identity is shaped as much by what it leaves out as by what it includes. There are no televisions in the rooms, no overwrought design gestures, no attempt to compete with the view. What remains is the wind, the light shifting across the water, and the rare sensation of having arrived somewhere that asks nothing of you at all.

What we love about this stay
MARRAM feels like an editing exercise — what happens when a hotel strips back everything performative and lets Montauk's oceanfront do the talking. There's a barefoot sincerity here that isn't curated casualness but something closer to conviction, a property that genuinely believes the best version of luxury is the one that gets out of your way. Ninety-six rooms is intimate enough to feel personal, large enough to disappear into. It's a place built for people who don't need to be entertained, who find real pleasure in simplicity rather than spectacle — and who understand that proximity to the Atlantic is, in itself, enough.

Having the the beach and a heated pool was terrific as was the room. It was definitley perfect for a quick get a way. Easy walking distances for places to eat. Chairs at the beach and lounges at the pool were comfortable and the staff was ery attentive. I have been going to Montauk for 30 or more years and this is a breath of fresh air compared to the other places that have yet to update. Will definitely be back.
