The road into Wimberley narrows and softens, trading highway speed for canopy shade and limestone curves. Somewhere between the small-town storefronts and the quiet stretches of Hill Country terrain, Onera Wimberley appears as a collection of architecturally considered cabins set against the kind of Texas landscape that earns its reputation slowly. This is not a sprawling resort or a rustic escape playing dress-up. It is a carefully composed property where modern design meets the rolling greens, ancient oaks, and open skies of one of the state's most storied small towns.
Each cabin at Onera Wimberley is designed as a self-contained retreat, blending clean contemporary lines with natural materials and generous windows that frame the surrounding landscape. The accommodations range in size and layout, but share a commitment to space, privacy, and considered interiors. Kitchens are fully equipped for guests who prefer to cook with local provisions. Living areas feel genuinely livable rather than staged for photographs. Bedrooms are oriented toward views and quiet. The overall effect is closer to a well-designed home than a hotel room, with the kind of thoughtful details that reward a longer stay. Outdoor spaces extend the living areas into the property's grounds, offering porches, fire pits, and open-air seating that make evenings here something worth lingering over.
Wimberley itself is a town shaped by its natural features. The Blanco River and Cypress Creek wind through the area, feeding the famous Blue Hole and Jacob's Well, two of the region's most celebrated swimming destinations. The Wimberley Square anchors the town's creative community with local galleries, shops, and a market scene that draws visitors from across Texas. The landscape beyond town is defined by rolling hills, wildflower meadows in season, and the kind of wide-open darkness that makes stargazing feel effortless. Onera Wimberley positions guests within easy reach of all of it while maintaining enough distance to feel genuinely removed from the everyday.
What stays with you after a visit is the rhythm the property encourages. Mornings are unhurried, shaped by coffee on the porch and the sounds of Hill Country wildlife waking up. Afternoons unfold at whatever pace you choose, whether that means exploring Wimberley's creative corridors or simply reading in the shade of a live oak. Evenings gather around the glow of a fire pit under a sky that reminds you how many stars you normally miss. Onera Wimberley does not perform luxury. It offers a place where good design, generous space, and a remarkable landscape converge, and then it steps back to let you find your own way through it.

What we love about this stay
Request a top-floor room with a west-facing balcony — the Hill Country sunsets here aren't background scenery, they're the main event, and that vantage point earns every minute of golden hour. Bring a bottle from one of the Wimberley-area vineyards (Driftwood Estate is the move) and settle in around 7 p.m. in summer. The hot tub after dark is genuinely worth staying up for; minimal light pollution means the sky opens up in a way that feels almost theatrical. Mornings are equally sharp — coffee on the balcony before 7 a.m., when the songbirds are loudest and the air still carries that cool cedar-tinged edge. Skip the urge to over-schedule day trips into town. The whole point here is deceleration, and the property rewards you for staying put.

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend for our anniversary, and we couldn’t have loved it any more than what we did! Fantastic view and room. It was extremely well kept and the host was incredibly quick to answer any questions we had and were so kind. 10/10 recommend staying here.

We booked with Onera for a quick 3-day getaway. The place was setup just as described. We booked “The Greenhouse”. It was extremely clean. I always wipe down with Lysol upon check-in and my wipes were spotless.
Oddly, the sheets were a nuisance; they barely stayed on and were not comfortable at all. Thankfully, I always bring my own just in case.
The kitchenette is stocked with basics and a little more. There isn’t a restaurant onsite, so we opted to bring our own food; It was nice sitting out on the balcony, watching the sun rise/set while having our meals.
The view is stunning, by the way.
Even during our drive around the area, the views are amazing.
As for the resort itself, booking, as well as check-in, was simple. Our host, Tom was super helpful and responds almost immediately. The private hot tub is amazing. The cabins are somewhat angled, and spaced about 50ft apart; so I’d say they’re semi-private. Also, the parking area needs more lighting. Overall, our stay was great.
