The road narrows. The canopy thickens. And then, set among the red oaks and sugar maples of a vast Québec wilderness, Station Chêne Rouge reveals itself as something between a contemporary alpine lodge and a year-round forest basecamp. The architecture is bold but deferential, all dark timber and generous glass, designed to dissolve the boundary between interior warmth and the living landscape beyond. This is not a resort that happens to be near nature. It is a property built entirely around immersion in it.
Accommodations range from well-appointed hotel rooms to private chalets and ready-to-camp options, each calibrated to a different register of comfort and independence. The chalets offer a sense of seclusion, with wood-burning stoves, full kitchens, and private outdoor spaces that open directly onto the surrounding forest. Hotel rooms provide a more traditional stay, finished in natural materials and oriented to pull the outdoors in through wide windows. For those drawn to something closer to the earth, the glamping and ready-to-camp setups deliver an experience rooted in simplicity without sacrificing thoughtful design.
The heart of Station Chêne Rouge is its programming. The property operates as a genuine four-season outdoor destination, with an extensive trail network for hiking, fat biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing woven through the terrain. In warmer months, the landscape opens up for mountain biking, trail running, and lake access. Winter transforms the property into a Nordic playground, with groomed trails cutting through snow-laden forest. An on-site Nordic spa anchors the wellness experience, offering hot and cold plunge pools and saunas positioned among the trees, where the ritual of thermal bathing unfolds against the silence of the boreal landscape. A central lodge serves as the gathering point, with food and drink offerings that lean into the regional and the seasonal, providing a place to refuel and reconnect after hours spent outside.
What distinguishes Station Chêne Rouge is its commitment to the rhythm of the land itself. The property does not package nature as a backdrop or an amenity. It asks guests to move through it, to feel the shift from exertion to stillness, from cold air on the skin to the heat of a wood-fired sauna. You leave not with the memory of a room or a meal, but with the deep, physical satisfaction of a day lived entirely outdoors, followed by the quiet reward of rest earned.

What we love about this stay
There's a particular kind of quiet that settles over a place where the wilderness isn't a backdrop but the entire point — and Station Chêne Rouge understands this deeply. Set within Québec's rugged natural landscape, it feels less like a retreat from the world and more like an honest reorientation toward it. The accommodations are designed with clear intention, honoring the terrain rather than competing with it, which gives the whole experience a groundedness that's hard to manufacture. You come here to be unhurried, to let the density of forest and sky recalibrate something internal. It's for the traveler who doesn't need distraction dressed up as luxury — just thoughtful comfort and an unbroken conversation with the land around you.

Christian was a great host! Went above and beyond to accommodate us. Well maintained cabin. Great facilities in the clubhouse. So many great trails all seasons in the area. Close to North Hatley which is a unique, fun village.

Beautiful location with lovely facilities. The view over the mountains from the clubhouse is outstanding. I had a very comfy sleep in the well appointed safari tent. The hosts were friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay again in this marvelous place.

We had an amazing and beautiful 4-night stay at Station Chene Rouge. There were so many thoughtful and little details that made our stay very special. The staff were very friendly, helpful and would check-in to see if we needed anything. The facilities were always incredibly clean…you can tell how hard the staff works to create a clean and comfortable environment for their guests. I highly recommend staying here for a relaxing, view filled and grounding getaway!

Rugged enough for a couple that does not camp. We love the outdoors we just don’t love camping. We rented the safari tent and it was perfect for the space we enjoy and having the bed with all the linens ready. The breakfast/brunch basket we purchased was so lovely. It was great to eat before our big hike. Even if you don’t love camping, I recommend trying this unique experience. The area was beautiful, we went hiking one day to come back to a plunge in the pool with a lovely view. The quiet, peaceful surrounding is what we needed to reset and give each other all our attention. Thanks for thinking of all the small details to make our getaway so perfect!

Depending on what kind of trip you are looking for, this is definitely a beautiful and rustic camping experience. We booked a triage cottage and it was so cozy inside. There's a little wood burning stove inside and everything you need to cook without electricity. We brought a bunch of candles and it gave it such a cozy feeling. We also had a tablet and watched a movie in bed late at night. The clubhouse is open 24hrs and you can charge any electronics if need be. Outside there was a bbq provided and of course a firepit surrounded by Adirondack chairs. We toured the grounds and looked at the other cabins and tents. The tents were GORGEOUS! While I really liked the cabin we chose, I may book one of the tents next time because I will definitely return. The environment is beautiful. If you love peace and quiet and escaping away to enjoy true nature, this is the place. It is open year round if you are truly hard core lol.
