I really enjoyed staying here and I definitely will be back. Everything was a very close drive which made it a bonus. The house is great, I enjoyed the rooftop seats at nighttime and we couldn’t have had a better experience.

There is something unexpectedly grounding about arriving at a home built from a shipping container. The Hacienda is a compact, architect-reimagined tiny home that takes the industrial bones of a repurposed container and transforms them into a warm, functional retreat. The structure sits on a quiet rural property surrounded by open landscape, offering a sense of seclusion that belies its proximity to local attractions, including Magnolia Market, just twelve minutes away.
Inside, the layout is intentional and efficient without feeling austere. The living space is designed to maximize every square foot, with a comfortable sleeping area, a small kitchen equipped for light meal preparation, and a bathroom that manages to feel more spacious than its footprint suggests. Thoughtful design details, from the warm wood finishes to carefully placed windows, bring natural light and texture into the container's steel frame. The overall effect is cozy and considered, a space that rewards slowing down rather than spreading out. An outdoor area extends the living space into the open air, offering a place to sit with morning coffee or watch the sky shift colors at dusk.
The Hacienda appeals to travelers drawn to unconventional accommodations, those who find charm in adaptive reuse and prefer character over convention. It is not a resort, and it does not try to be. Its appeal is rooted in the novelty and simplicity of the format, a thoughtfully outfitted container home that provides everything you need and little you don't. The surrounding area offers easy access to local dining, shopping, and the well-known Magnolia complex, making it a practical base for exploring the region while returning each evening to something quieter and more personal.
What stays with you after a night at The Hacienda is the surprising comfort of small spaces done well. The container format, far from feeling limiting, creates a sense of intimacy and focus. You sleep closer to the sounds outside. You notice the light more. It is the kind of stay that recalibrates your sense of what a getaway requires, and reminds you that sometimes, less structure leaves more room for rest.

There's something genuinely appealing about a place that commits fully to a small footprint and makes it feel like enough. The Hacienda is a single shipping container — 40 feet of pine shiplap and barnwood — and yet it never reads as a compromise. The design is warm without being kitschy, compact without feeling cramped, and there's a real point of view in how the space was put together. What elevates it beyond novelty is the rooftop deck, reached by an exterior staircase, where LED lights give the whole thing an atmosphere that feels earned rather than staged. It's the kind of stay that suits people who find character in constraint — couples or a few close friends who want proximity to Waco's draw without staying somewhere forgettable.
